Sexual harassment on public transport (Qn.7 5/11/2019) Posted by Red Squirrel at 17:55, 5th November 2019 |
In following up press coverage - "reports of harassment on London’s underground soar", we ran an anonymous poll of members asking how many of them or someone close to them had been sexually harrassed on public transport. Out of 28 respondents, six reported "yes" - they or close person had been. It's a minority, but every one is one too many, and the question was not asking for a GWR specific response.
An 'open' question - an invite to Mark to tell us about the prevelance (or otherwise) and the monitoring of such harassment at GWR stations and on GWR trains, and steps that GWR are taking in their day to day activities and operating methods to reduce the opportunities for such things to happen. Comment on steps to identify and help vulnerable people - a danger to themselves or to others - would also be appreciated.

We are working on a Safe Guarding on Rail initiative which will provide information to all colleagues regarding all types of vulnerability.
